The story of Eden Construction
Eden Construction was born from a thirty-year friendship between co-founders James Pilbro and Johan Vollebregt, who met through an Auckland social soccer club in their youth.
While they initially pursued separate successful careers in property investment, wealth management, construction, and consulting both in New Zealand and overseas, they eventually united their complementary expertise.
Later joined by Matt Campbell, these three professionals formed Eden Construction, beginning with their successful collaboration on the Roland Hill Project.
Built on values of quality craftsmanship, expert project management, and transparent communication, Eden Construction is committed to delivering projects that exceed client expectations. Today, their work is a testament to trust, integrity, and a dedication to creating beautiful, lasting homes across New Zealand.

James Pilbro
MANAGING DIRECTOR, HEAD OF MARKETING & SALES
James is an experienced real estate investor with a proven track record in both New Zealand and Germany. As the Managing Director and Head of Marketing & Sales, he brings a strategic approach to asset management and real estate investment.
James is also the managing director and primary shareholder of PHW Wohnraum GmbH, an asset management company specialising in buy-and-hold investments in Germany.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance and Honours in Marketing, James combines a strong academic background with hands-on experience to lead Eden Construction’s growth and client relations.

Johan Vollebregt
MANAGING DIRECTOR, HEAD OF OPERATIONS
Johan is an experienced construction consultant with 18 years in the industry, covering both residential and commercial construction in New Zealand. His background includes roles such as Building Surveyor for Auckland City Council, and management positions for high-density developments with G.J. Gardner Homes, Rabo Construction, and Manukau Major Projects.
Johan is a qualified registered building practitioner in Carpentry, holding certifications in Carpentry Level 5 and Applied Technology, along with a Level 6 Diploma in Building Surveying. An entrepreneur for the past decade, Johan has been pivotal in property development across multiple companies in New Zealand and Germany.
His comprehensive knowledge of building practices, project management, and regulatory systems ensures that every project at Eden Construction meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Matthew Campbell
MANAGING DIRECTOR, HEAD OF FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
Matt brings extensive expertise in finance and operations to Eden Construction. With a career spanning London, Sydney, and Auckland, he has led finance roles in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, housing, and transactional services. Notably, he worked on housing projects for the Westminster City Council in London, showcasing his strategic financial insight.
A Chartered Accountant with a degree in Finance & International Business from Auckland University and an Executive Course from Singapore Management University, Matt’s background ensures meticulous financial oversight at Eden Construction.
His involvement with New Zealand start-ups, including The Uncommon Wine of New Zealand and Beetl Skincare, complements his role as a key figure in managing the company’s financial and operational aspects.
